The La Loica and La Tagua Cabins are located in Matanzas, Chile. Built in 2018 and designed by Nicólas Opazo Marchetti and Felipe Crozatto Viviani, they are composed of six-hundred and twenty-four square feet. The La Tagua Cabin being 25 square meters and the La Loica being just 20 square meters. The project was intended to be a small vacation home on the coast. They are raised eighty meters above sea level and rest in front of the ‘Lobera’ (a large rock mass).
Made entirely out of wood, the cabins extend into the steep slope and blend into the surrounding nature. With large windows, an open floor plan, and both master bedrooms being on the upper level of the cabins, the structures can serve as both open and closed spaces with a magnificent view of the sea. The access doors on the cabin can be opened completely, allowing for connection and interaction between the in and exterior of the building as well as acting as a shield from the winds coming from the southwest.
